About Robert White
Robert White’s remarkable life story is one of transformation, resilience, and unwavering commitment to service. Born in Vancouver, Canada—a city known for its mountains, forests, and coastal beauty—Robert’s early years were shaped by a love of the outdoors and a deep respect for nature. But it was his move to California’s Napa Valley as a teenager that truly set the stage for a life marked by purpose, faith, and excellence.
After arriving in Napa, Robert pursued higher education at Pacific Union College in Angwin, a serene town nestled in the hills above the valley. During his college years, he met Celeste Keith, who would become his wife and life partner. Their love story began in Napa and blossomed in St. Helena, where they were married. Their over 40-year marriage is a testament to their shared values and dedication to family and faith.
Before entering the academic world, Robert took a unique path—working on oil rigs in the Arctic and in rugged logging camps. These early jobs, filled with physical challenges and isolation, instilled in him an uncommon work ethic and mental fortitude. Rather than choosing comfort, Robert chose growth, adventure, and discipline—traits that would later define his leadership in medicine.
Robert’s first professional chapter unfolded in the wine industry. He worked with Stags Leap Wine Cellars, a Napa Valley institution, and lived on a vineyard and ranch near St. Helena. But despite his success, Robert felt a deeper calling to the medical field. With courage and determination, he pivoted careers and enrolled in medical school, chasing a long-held dream to serve others through healing.
After graduating, Robert undertook a rigorous residency in General and Trauma Surgery at San Joaquin General Hospital and the University of California, Davis. He returned to Napa Valley to join Queen of the Valley Hospital, where he would make a lasting mark. As a trauma surgeon, he not only provided life-saving care but also helped build the hospital’s trauma program from the ground up—earning national certification from the American College of Surgeons.
Robert’s career continued to flourish as he took on the role of Director of Surgery at Providence. He played a leading role in the development of a Level II trauma center at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, expanding access to critical care across the region. Even after retiring from his administrative role, Robert remains a practicing trauma surgeon and mentor, guiding the next generation of medical professionals.
Beyond the hospital, Robert has been involved in a range of impactful endeavors. He collaborated on real estate development projects with his father-in-law, participated in medical mission trips, and volunteered in community programs focused on addiction recovery and trauma prevention. His involvement with the Salvation Army and various youth sports teams reflects a life rooted in generosity and mentorship.
