Upcoming segment will examine how academic instruction, leadership education and student support prepare cadets for life beyond the classroom.

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — “All Access with Andy Garcia” is scheduled to film with New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy (NOMMA) on November 5, 2026, for an upcoming educational segment exploring how the academy combines rigorous academics, leadership education, and character development within a structured school environment to prepare students for success beyond high school. The production will examine how the academy pairs high expectations with mentorship and support to help students—known as cadets—reach their academic and personal potential.

New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy

NOMMA is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school serving students in grades 8-12 from throughout the greater New Orleans area, offering both college preparatory and career training pathways. A consistently high-performing school, NOMMA distinguishes itself through a unique educational model in which every cadet participates in Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC). The program emphasizes leadership, citizenship, responsibility, teamwork, and self-discipline, while participation does not create any obligation to enter military service. Through classroom instruction, cadet leadership roles and community service, students have opportunities to put these values into practice.

The segment will also explore how NOMMA balances a highly structured environment and high expectations with individualized mentorship and support programs that help cadets succeed. Alongside these efforts, the academy’s career and technical education programs, industry-recognized credentials, internship opportunities, and partnerships with higher education, military, and maritime organizations connect classroom learning with real-world experiences and opportunities beyond graduation. Viewers will learn how this approach prepares cadets for college, military service, or careers while emphasizing the personal qualities needed to succeed in whichever path they choose.

“At NOMMA, we believe a quality education must develop more than academic knowledge. Our cadets need the discipline to meet challenges, the character to make sound decisions, and the confidence to pursue opportunities beyond high school. Through rigorous academics, leadership education, and character development, our dedicated team of Marine Instructors and civilian teachers is preparing young people not simply to graduate, but to succeed in life,” said Col. Christopher J. Schlafer, USMC (Ret), Commandant of New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy.
